She’s the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, but Sarah Ferguson has reportedly been snubbed from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s evening reception guest list.
The 58-year-old, who was married to Prince Andrew until they divorced in 1996, is said to be ‘deeply unhappy’ about having to leave the wedding while the rest of the family head on to Frogmore House.
Fergie did however get invited to the May 19th wedding ceremony and the afternoon reception afterwards at St George’s Hall.
It’s been claimed that Prince Harry was adamant his aunt should be at his nuptials, despite his brother, Prince William, leaving her off his guest list entirely when he married Kate Middleton in 2011.
And while Prince Harry may see no harm in having Fergie as one of his 600 guests, and is even believed to have told Kensington Palace to put her on the list, his father, Prince Charles, is said to be furious.
“Numbers are limited to the evening party, she is not a member of the Royal Family anymore and Prince Charles simply doesn’t have time for her,” a source told The Express.
“He just can’t see why she is still such a big part of his brother’s life.”
Fergie and her ex-husband do however still live together at Royal Lodge and have a friendly relationship.
Indeed, the Duchess of York was also said to be very close with Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, and became a member of the royal family just five years after the Princess of Wales did.
Meanwhile, Prince Philip is said to be Fergie’s least biggest fan in the family and could never forgive her for being photographed having her toes sucked by financial advisor, John Bryan, before her divorce from Prince Andrew was officially finalised.
“It will be fascinating to see if the Duke of Edinburgh acknowledges her,” the source said.
“He has held a grudge against her for a long, long time and normally refuses to even be in the same room as her.”
