'Shy' singer blows away America's Got Talent judges

When British teen Courtney Hadwin stepped onto the stage to audition on America’s Got Talent, no one could have expected what happened next.

The 13-year-old came across as extremely shy she stepped out, and she admitted to being very nervous when introducing herself to the judges.

“Don’t be nervous,” Mel B said trying to comfort the teen. “I know it’s a big stage and there are lots of people here, but you’re here for a reason so go for it. Good Luck.”

And ‘go for it’ is exactly what she did.

Launching into Otis Redding’sHard to Handle‘, Courtney left the judges and everyone in the crowd completely speechless – jaws basically dropped everywhere.

When the song ended she got a standing ovation, much to her dad’s delight, who was watching with host Tyra Banks from backstage.

“Bloody hell Courtney,” a usually frosty Simon Cowell. “You were this shy little thing when you came out. Then you sing and you’re like a lion. I mean, genuinely incredible.”

Fellow judge Howie Mandel was so impressed he hit the gold buzzer sending her through to the live shows.

Courtney had previously been a finalist on The Voice Kids UK, but has gained plenty of new fans – Twitter exploding after her performance.

Never ever underestimate the quiet person in the room,” Tyra Banks tweeted.
