As such, Singapore is a popular stopover for many Aussie travellers; offering connecting flights to Europe, United Kingdom and different parts of Asia.

You may not think you can squeeze much in with just a few days, but you’d be wrong.

Here’s how we made the most of our time in the ‘Lion City’.

Where to stay? – The Fullerton Bay

Returning from a stressful holiday? The Fullerton Bay is the perfect place to relax.

Offering a rooftop pool with private jacuzzis and a luxury spa (located at The Fullerton) it’s the perfect way to recover from all crowds you had to deal with.

What to do?

Marina Bay Sands
You cannot go to Singapore without visiting the iconic Marina Bay Sands. Home to a range of dining facilities and shops, you can easily spend the day getting lost.

The ‘Future World’ exhibition at Marina Bay’s Art Science museum is a MUST. The series of interactive installations is perfect for a family day out; visitors can even create their own masterpiece – which will be featured in the museum one day! Instagram addicts, never fear the museum has plenty of photo opportunities.

National Art Gallery
If museums and galleries are your thing, the National Gallery is a must do. Boasting the world’s largest collection of Southeast Asian modern art, it is a perfect way to immerse yourself and learn about the history of Singapore.

What it’s like to dine on top of the world

Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay is 250 acres of National Park, showcases a variety of flowers and plant life from Southeast Asia and the world. Spread across two domes — The ‘Flower Dome’ and ‘Cloud Dome’ the popular tourist attraction is located behind Marina Bay Sands, in Downtown Singapore. Admission: $28 for adults/$15 for children.

For a little outdoor fun, we recommend watching Gardens by the Bay light show ‘Garden Rhapsody’. Open from 7.45pm daily, music is brought to life through light and colour. It will literally give you goosebumps.

Admission: FREE open all year.

Where to eat/ drink?

Bites and drinks at The Lantern
Offering the best view of the Marina Bay ‘Spectrum’ light show, The Lantern rooftop bar is a major Singapore hotspot. Open for lunch, dinner and drinks, the bar offers a series small dishes and cocktails, we recommend trying the Butter poached Lobster roll with truffle fries #mouthwatering.

Dinner at the Bird Southern Table and Bar
A fan of classic American food, great wine and friendly customer service? The Bird is for you. The restaurant has become the latest hotspot in Singapore, opened for lunch and dinner, The Bird offers a range Southern America food, think fried chicken and wagyu steak — the ‘St Louis style Pork Ribs’ are a must try.

Enjoy high tea at Clifford Pier
High tea at Clifford Pier alone is worth turning your connection into a stopover. The tranquil restaurant is located in the lobby of The Fullerton Bay Hotel … so you won’t have to travel far! The combination of live music, champagne and amazing pastries creates the perfect afternoon.

Have a Singapore Sling at The Long Bar at Raffles Hotel.
The famous bar was where the iconic cocktail — made of gin, pineapple juice, fresh lime and Cointreau — was created. The fresh cocktail does come with a hefty price tag, but the atmosphere and service is something money cannot buy.
