Stan Walker reveals frustration at dramatic weight loss due to stomach removal

Australian Idol winner Stan Walker has been very open about his recent health struggles.

The 27-year-old recently had his stomach removed as he had a high risk of developing cancer due to a rare gene mutation.

A new documentary Stan Walker: The Fight of His Life details his health struggles, the stomach removal surgery and the aftermath of his recovery process.

The documentary premiered in Australia on Monday night on Channel Nine and Stan shares his frustration at his rapid weight loss following the operation.

“Just in the last two days I’ve already lost weight and I’m getting skinnier and skinnier,” he says in the clip above documenting his weight loss.

The singer also shows himself “pushing” his stomach out, which wasn’t any different from his torso normally.

“I hate this,” he says. “I just want to eat good. I want to put weight on and be healthy.”

Stan inherited the rare cancer-causing gene CDH1 and the mutation has caused the deaths of more than 25 members of his family.

The New Zealand native shot to fame nine years ago after winning the seventh and final season of Australian Idol.
