Stars wish Carrie well

Friends, family and former co-stars of Carrie Fisher have taken to Twitter to wish the Star Wars actress a speedy recovery.

The 60-year-old who played Princess Leia is in a stable condition after suffering a heart attack mid flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday.

Celebrities have flooded social media with their prayers and wishes after the actress experienced a devastating medical emergency just prior to Christmas.

Carrie’s co-star and close friend told Entertainment Tonight in a statement on Saturday: "I'm shocked and saddened to hear the news about my dear friend. Our thoughts are with Carrie, her family and friends.

It was recently revealed in Carrie’s memoir, The Princess Diarist, that her and Harrison shared a romantic relationship on and off set of the original 1976 film when he was 33-years-old and she was just 19-years-old.

Another co-star, Mark Hamill, tweeted: “As if 2016 couldn't get any worse... sending all our love to @carrieffisher," he wrote, noting it’s been one hell of a year.

Star Trek’s William Shatner was devastated by Carrie’s sudden attack, urging everyone “to stop for a moment and send special thoughts to @carrieffisher.”

Joely Fisher, the actress' sister, hoped the best for Carrie and tweeted on Friday: "Use the force babe," she wrote, accompanied with a throwback photo of her sis.

On Saturday, Joely shared another image, this time of her and Carrie as well as their other sister Tricia Fisher with the caption: "Fisher Girls...your love and prayers are deeply felt...@TriciaLFisher @carrieffisher @Gary_TheDog."

Bette Midler even tweeted that Carrie is a very “beloved” figure and sent all her love and prayers her way. “#CarrieFisher's had a heart attack; hope and pray she recovers soon. Quick witted, hilarious on paper and in person, and just plain beloved.”

Believe singer Cher said: “Heard about Carrie ,Am [praying] For Her. Shes Tuff Little [cookie].”

The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood wrote: “Thoughts and love for @carrieffisher You can't leave us yet! May the force be with you.”

TMZ first reported the incident and said anonymous sources told them the actress suffered a heart attack and passengers were doing CPR on Carrie during the flight.

Carrie was treated by paramedics immediately upon landing in LA around noon Friday, according to reports citing anonymous sources.

Carrie’s brother, Todd Fisher, told The Associated Press she was "out of emergency" and stabilised at a LA hospital shortly after.

Carrie's publicists and reps for her mother, Debbie Reynolds, and her daughter, Billie Lourd, have not spoken out.
