Steve Irwin set to receive star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

“People around the world will always remember the animal whisperer Steve Irwin.”

Steve Irwin will be honoured with the 2,635th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the television category on April 26, the Hollywood Chamber Commerce announced Tuesday.

“People from around the world will always remember the animal whisperer Steve Irwin,” Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, announced. “He was a joy to be around and entertained all with his love and knowledge of the animal kingdom.”

Irwin made a name for himself with the success of his documentary television series, The Crocodile Hunter, the second longest-running program in history of the Discovery network.

In September 2006, Irwin died after a close encounter with a stingray off the coast of Queensland.

Steve Irwin’s family will accept the star on his behalf.
