Towering high overhead and adorned with colourful baubles and sparkling tinsel, the hottest trend sweeping Instagram is "Christmas tree hair".

Basically a pointy beehive updo, the hilariously festive new look has gripped the imagination of partygoers around the world.

Some ambitious stylists have even included battery-powered strings of fairy lights in their tresses.
