It’s no secret that living in the public eye can be tough, but Ricki-Lee Coulter says she doesn’t let online trolls throw her off her game.
Sharing her diet and exercise regime on social media regularly, the married singer loves showing off her healthy lifestyle and just ignores anyone who has anything nasty to say about it.
“For me it’s water off a duck's back. I place no value in what those kinds of people think of me,” the 31-year-old says. “But I know that not everyone has the same resilience as me. So if ever I speak up about anything, it’s more to be a show of strength for other people than for myself.”
Ricki-Lee embarked on a fitness crusade seven years ago and after completely changing her diet, she lost a whopping 30kg and dropped from a size 14 to an eight. She’s maintained her weight ever since and loves sharing her fitness and diet tips with her followers online.
“I workout because of the way that it makes me feel. When I workout I have more energy, I am happier, and my brain is sharp,” says the New-Zealand born beauty. When it comes down to a day-to-day basis, I think you just need to listen to your body.”
As an ambassador for Pantene, Ricki-Lee says she loves taking care of her body and follows a strict routine every day, adding to her already busy schedule of fitness and music.
Every morning she wakes up at 7:30 and after having breakfast will spend 20 minutes mediating before hitting up the gym.
“I workout about 5-6 days a week, and generally my workouts are about an hour. Some days I just do an hour of cardio, either spin bike or running on the treadmill. And other days I’ll do some weights & resistance,” says the LA-based songwriter.
Ricki swears by using a hot towel to wash your face in the shower, and she uses Pantene’s Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo & Conditioner, before moisturising her face and her body.
She’ll be at the studio from midday, finishing anytime between 3pm and 6pm but makes sure to pack a healthy lunch and snacks when she can.
“It’s about the little things you do to look after yourself that make you feel confident. When you look after yourself, you really do glow from the inside out and you can’t ever fake that,” Ricki says.
After marrying her beau Richard Harrison late 2015, Ricki says she’s never been happier. “I’m a very lucky girl…he is a great man and we have a great life and not a day goes by where we aren’t laughing and grateful to have each other.”
There’s no faking it here!
