We've been applying glitter nail polish wrong our whole lives

When we're picking our outfits for NYE, Christmas and any special occasion, we usually go for the most dazzling, glittering dress we own.

And while we always see that one bottle of glitter nail polish sitting on our dresser just begging to be used, we've already used it enough times to know that it always results in a massive mani fail, so usually just stick to a colour we know best.

However now a new video has revealed the easiest glitter nail polish hack we've ever seen, which basically shows us that we've been applying it wrong our whole lives.

Beauty vlogger, Kelli Marissa, has come up with a way to make sure our mani nightmares don't come true, by ensuring a flawless glitter application without any of the patchiness.

"If you want it to look as good on your nail as it does in the bottle, then yes there is a correct way to do it," she says in the video.

Unlike the rest of us, who usually just apply the glitter nail polish directly to our nails, she starts off by using a top coat.

Then she uses 'liquid latex' to paint around the edges of her nail, but she also claims the hack works just as well with PVA glue.

For step three she takes a sponge and dabs the glitter polish onto onto one side of it.

Next she pats the glitter onto the nail using the sponge and builds up the coverage as she wants to.

Finally she finishes with a top coat and we honestly can't believe we haven't thought of this before ourselves.

From now on you can find us at any party sporting the shiniest, glittering nails around.
