But fear not, because professional make-up artist Sonia Allen is here with her best beauty hacks.

Use cotton buds
When using cotton buds to correct makeup mistakes (i.e. cleaning up lipstick or liquid liner), swirl the cotton bud as you drag across the skin.

This will ensure that only the clean parts of the cotton bud will come into contact with the skin and you won't be smearing makeup over areas you're trying to correct.

If the mistake is extra bad, consider dabbing a bit of foundation onto the cotton bud before "cleaning up".

Coloured liner is your best friend
If you don't have time for eyeshadow, smudge a coloured liner (like the Marc Jacobs highliners) into your upper lash line.

It adds instant colour to the eyes and only takes a minute.

Fake your way to fuller lips
For longwear lipstick that gives the illusion of fuller lips, use your ring finger to tap a creamy textured lipstick (like the Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks) onto your lips using repeat "tapping" motions.

It will mimic a bee-stung effect and because you're layering gradually, the lipstick will have superb staying power.

Perk up your complexion
When you're not feeling your best or your complexion is lacking radiance, mix a drop of liquid illuminator (preferably without visible shimmer, like the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops) into your moisturizer, foundation or tinted moisturiser.

Bronze away
For the ultimate sunkissed look, use your bronzer (like the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder) as eyeshadow in the socket line and blend outwards towards the brow using a blending brush (like the Zoeva 228 Crease Brush).
