It seems Essena O'Neill isn't the only social media star quitting Instagram this week.

Sadly, Hipster Barbie (or Socality Barbie as she's called on the social media platform), has decided her newfound fame is far too overwhelming, and unceremoniously quit Instagram.

Hipster Barbie first came to fruition 136 selfies ago, and was the brainchild of photographer Darby Cisneros.

"I started Hipster Barbie as a way to poke fun at all the Instagram trends that I thought were ridiculous," Cisneros said today. "Never in 1 million years did I think it would receive the amount of attention that it did."

Cisneros managed to attract 1.3 million followers to the account, which satirises everyone's selfies, travel pics and inspirational quotes with aplomb.

She confesses that a number of brands approached her about product inclusions, but that as of today, it was time to lay Hipster Barbie to rest.

"I believe SB's work here is done," said Cisneros.

Fortunately, she's decided to leave the Hipster Barbie account open for a while, even though it will be sadly neglected from now on.
