Kate dazzles in Diana’s tiara
Buckingham Palace put on a show last night to welcome Spanish royals Queen Letizia and King Felipe.
And the special occasion warranted a very special piece of jewellery from the Duchess of Cambridge.
Dressed in a gorgeous, pale pink gown, Kate accessorised with her late mother-in-law’s favourite pearl tiara.
The stunning “Cambridge Lover's Knot” heirloom was passed down to Queen Elizabeth II from Queen Mary, before being given to Diana as a wedding present, and later to Kate.
Beautiful as it was, Diana used to complain that it was so heavy it gave her headaches! And by the look on Kate’s face during the dinner, she might agree!
The Duchess paired her tiara with a heavy necklace that almost succeeded in drawing attention away the v-shaped neckline on her Marchesa dress – which may be the most plunging one she’s worn yet!
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip hosted the banquet state dinner which was held in the palace ballroom, and treated guests to a meal of Scottish beef and truffles served with a Madeira sauce.
The Countess of Wessex's String Orchestra was on call to provide some beautiful music for the 1,000 guests which came from over 130 countries.
