Reports Harvey Weinstein made stars wear his wife's Marchesa brand

Harvey Weinstein allegedly forced A-list celebrities to wear his wife’s Marchesa designer dresses at red carpet events.

A source said the disgraced film star, who has been accused of numerous accounts of sexual harassment, pushed Georgina Chapman’s label on to celebrities who had starred in his films.

A publicist told the Hollywood Reporter that Sienna Miller’s people told her that Harvey “would be very upset if she didn't wear Marchesa” to the Golden Globes because she was sitting beside the mogul and his wife.

Miller had just starred in Weinstein’s 2006 film Factory Girl, which catapulted her into Hollywood stardom.

The same publicist also claims that Harvey told Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman that he would put a halt on the funding for the promotion of her 2005 film Transamerica if she didn’t show up to the Golden Globes in a sleek Marchesa number.

It’s also been revealed that 65-year-old Harvey strongly influenced Renée Zellweger’s choice of outfit for the premiere of Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason

The 2004 film was highly anticipated and speaking to Vogue magazine at the time, it seems Harvey used the spotlight to his wife’s advantage.

“Maybe I helped, but just very, very little, with Renée Zellweger,” he said.

Page Six also claim that Georgina Chapman has always had to grapple with people both in the fashion and film industry who thought her label’s success all stemmed from Harvey’s position.

“Georgina always had a hard time pushing herself. For Harvey, promotion’s in his blood,” a source told the publication.

“[He] wasn’t exactly subtle about asking Miramax’s female stars to wear Marchesa on the red carpet. And if the studio chief of your movie, and potential movies, asked you to wear a certain designer, wouldn’t you want to accommodate him?”

And it appears that the Harvey’s power of persuasion worked a treat, because the brand has gone from strength to strength since it was established in 2004 by Chapman and Keren Craig.

Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lopez, Olivia Culpo, Nicole Kidman and Blake Lively are just a handful of celebrities who have been pictured donning the designer’s creations for red carpet appearances.

However it’s been claimed that the recent bombshell allegations against Georgina Chapman’s husband will have an adverse effect on her beloved label.

“He’s going to get ostracized in the [fashion] business — at least for a while — and Marchesa could suffer, too,” a fashion executive told Page Six.

Another source said nobody in Hollywood is going to be wearing Marchesa gowns for quite some time.

“There was an email sent out after the scandal broke to hold styling anyone in Marchesa until there was a company wide meeting,” a source told Us.
