Rachael Finch is all about florals at Ladies Oaks Day

It’s all about the fillies at Flemington today, as ladies reign supreme for the always fashionable Oaks Day.

Leading the way this year is Rachael Finch, who truly embraced the traditionally feminine theme of the day.

Florals and pastels are often the standouts and mum-of-two Rachael embraced both in this We Are Kindred design which she paired with Tony Bianco heels and an Olga Berg clutch.

She also debuted a new fringe – her first since the age of 14 - that really softened up her overall look.

While Rachael was very much on theme, not every celeb in The Birdcage was quite so traditional.

Blogger and WAG Nadia Bartel went for a more bold and bright look in a structured scarlet frock by Atoir, which she teamed alongside a delicate red and gold headband by Viktoria Novak.

International modelling star Robyn Lawley went for a similarly dramatic ensemble in a rose-patterned dress and red turban.

While styling guidelines dictate that women dress in romantic, traditionally feminine looks with delicate fabrics on Oaks Day, they aren't the only rules racer goers hoping to get into the exclusive Birdcage are supposed to adhere to.

In spite of all the jumpsuits you see wandering around Flemington, dresses are usually favoured because jeans, shorts and playsuits are actually banned at the racecourse.

Crop tops are also a no-no, with midriffs supposed to be covered on the day. And don't even think about wearing leggings as pants or anything ripped - "even if considered ‘designer’ tears", their website says.

The same rules go for the gents, but shirts with no collars, beanies and cravats are also added to the banned list.
