Bikini model cut from magazine over size

Stunning model Nina Agdal has hit out at the fashion industry after an unnamed magazine cut both her cover photos and a feature about her from their publication.

The 25-year-old model from Denmark, who has appeared in Sports Illustrated and modelled for Victoria’s Secret, said it was a few months ago when she decided to do the shoot with a team she was “excited to collaborate with”.

However, when her agent received an “unapologetic” email explaining why they wouldn’t be using the pictures, she just had to speak up on the matter.

“Today, I’m disappointed and appalled at the still very harsh reality of this industry,” she started the post.

“When my agent received an unapologetic email concluding they would not run my cover/story because it “did not reflect well on my talent” and “did not fit their market,” the publisher claimed my look deviated from my portfolio and that I did not fit into the (sample size clothes), which is completely false.”

Nina, who briefly dated Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio, admitted that she doesn’t have a typical supermodel build, but she is athletic and has “healthy curves”.

She went on to say that she had actually taken the past year away from the industry to deal with “paralyzing social anxiety” and the unrealistic standards, but when she walked into that shoot she had been feeling comfortable in her own skin and healthier than ever.

“Some days I’m a sample size, some days I’m a size 4, some a 6. I am not built as a runway model and have never been stick thin,” she went on to say.

“Now more than ever, I embrace my curves and work diligently in the gym to stay strong and most of all, sane.

The model went on to claim that the magazine should be ashamed of themselves and decided to release an image from the shoot to draw awareness and support” of the issues within the fashion industry. Photo: Instagram/Nina Agdal

“I am proud to say that my body has evolved from when I started this crazy ride as a 16-year-old GIRL with unhealthy and insufficient eating habits.”

“Let's find ways to build each other up instead of constantly finding ways to tear each other down,” she said.
