Sam jokes around with 'smug' Edwina

There were plenty of laughs during Wednesday's episode of Sunrise , as Samantha Armytage and Edwina Bartholomew went head-to-head during a cheeky conversation about dating.

Host Samantha, 41, jokingly dubbed 34-year-old Edwina as 'smug' after she suggested her colleague meet up with First Dates contestant Jake.

Edwina, who is set to tie the knot with fiance Neil Varcoe, made a fun comment after her entertainment segment, saying "Sam I think Jake could be a manual driver, which I know could be one of your prerequisites".

"He's, you know, single and ready to mingle."

Sam cheekily quipped back, "All right, thanks Eddie. God, you've already become a smug married, trying to be a matchmaker", ensuing fits of laughter from co-host David "Kochie" Koch.

"You just worry about your own wedding," she giggled.

Of course Edwina's suggestion was merely a fun joke in the name of entertainment for breakfast TV, but it's got some wondering, would First Dates contestant Jake actually be a good fit for Sam.

The truck driver with an unmissable mullet went on a date with a woman named Rebecca, but unfortunately there was no spark to land them a second date.

"I'm just looking for a girl that's like one of the boys, really," Jake said on the show.

"Someone that can keep me in line but is happy to come down the pub and have a couple of pots with me as well."
