The Duchess of Sussex’s signature makeup looks something like this: subtle smoky eyes, lashings of mascara, lightly blushed cheeks and dewy skin finished off with glossy nude lips.
Photographed thousands of times during her royal engagements (in definition so high it would make most of us wince) the Duchess never looks anything short of flawless.
Recently, the 36-year-old and her husband, Prince Harry, visited Ireland for an overnight tour of the country, taking along an 11-strong entourage.
The army of staff included Meghan’s hairstylist, George Northwood, but a makeup artist was noticeably absent.
According to Daniel Martin, the man responsible for her wedding glam, the Duchess has been doing all her makeup herself.
Replying to a comment on Instagram asking if he was responsible for Meghan’s look worn to the reception at Glencairn, Martin said: “I didn’t [do the makeup] but she’s so good herself, right!?”
“She did her makeup herself for this,” he then reiterated.
Good job, right?
The Duchess surely has a queue of top makeup artists willingly to follow her – makeup brush in hand – to every engagement, so it may come as a surprise to some she chooses to paint her own face.
Perhaps she just prefers the way she does it, and feels more comfortable that way?
Kudos to you, Meghan.
Since her royal wedding on 19 May 2018, which was watched by millions the world over, people have really taken to Meghan’s natural skin look, and in particular, her freckles.
Her classic beauty look, created by Martin, and was achieved by using a single layer of Dior’s Backstage Face and Body Foundation which let her gorgeous freckles shine through.
Daniel told Yahoo Style UK that the decision the let Meghan’s freckles shine through was a “mutual understanding”.
He explained: “The last thing you want your future partner to see is a mask of makeup. You want them to see the person they fell in love with.”
Daniel also explained that Meghan’s only request for her makeup look was to “Just to feel like herself, but more polished than her usual day to day routine.”
“Meghan doesn’t like to have a full coverage of makeup on her face. She’s very comfortable in her own skin and doesn’t feel the need to cover it up. Especially on a memorable day as your wedding. You want to feel confident and comfortable and allow your true self to come through!”
Meghan, if the Duchess thing doesn’t work out, you have a career as a makeup artist awaiting.
