Tessa James welcomes her first child

Since announcing her pregnancy in late last year, former Home and Away star Tessa James has been keeping a relatively low profile.

However, with her most recent Instagram post, fans have gotten confirmation that the actress has welcomed her first child with her former NRL player husband, Nate Myles.

The 26-year-old actress, who didn't know she'd be able to have children after recovering from Hodgkin's lymphoma, has taken to social media to share a touching photo of Nate pushing their bundle of joy in a pram.

Quoting Winnie the Pooh, the caption reads, "As soon as I saw you I knew a grand adventure was about to happen".

The newborn is the couple's first child and they've been keeping Tessa's pregnancy journey quite quiet since they revealed she was expecting in August last year.

The one departure from their private bubble was Tessa's pregnancy shoot with Elle magazine, where she spoke about her excitement at welcoming her new arrival.

"Being pregnant is a miracle because growing a baby, it's pretty incredible when you think about it," she said.

"When you haven't had children and you see mums and kids everywhere you just think that's normal. But when it happens to you, you're like, 'Oh my gosh, all these women have done this? Wow'."

Tessa has overcome Hodgkin's lymphoma after being diagnosed at age 23, and after undergoing intensive chemo, she didn't know if she was ever going to be able to have children.

She and Myles have been married since 2011.
