Thousands of women break skinny dipping record
It was strip and dip on a beach in Ireland when thousands of women gathered to break the skinny dipping world record.
Over 2,500 women gathered on Magheramore Beach in the Republic of Ireland and stripped naked to go for a swim.
This was the sixth year of the annual Strip and Dip charity swim, after it was founded by Deirdre Featherstone when she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
“This is a great women empowerment day,” one participant told BBC.
“That was absolutely amazing. Also emotional,” another woman said.
The event was open to women only, and participants were made up of cancer patients, survivors and those who had been otherwise affected by cancer.
The effort was able to break the existing Guinness World Record, which had actually been set in 2015 in Perth, Australia, when 786 people bared all.
In March this year the annual Sydney Skinny nude swim charity event saw over 1500 people rock up to Cobbler’s Beach in Sydney Harbour wearing nothing but their birthday suits.
The event was event supporting the Charlie Teo Foundation, which raises funds for brain cancer research.
