Toddler reunited with missing bunny thanks to Facebook

A toddler and his lost bunny have been reunited thanks to the keen eyes of a supermarket worker and a Facebook post in a community group.

Heather Mollins-Child went shopping at Woolworths Nambour on the Sunshine Coast this week with her two sons. Three-year-old Archer insisted on taking his toy bunny Floppy inside, but in the rush of loading the car, Floppy was left behind.

“I strapped them into the car and took off. It wasn’t until a few hours later that I realised Floppy was missing,” Heather tells Be.

“Archer has had Floppy since the day he was born. My best friend bought it for him and it has been by his side ever since. Like a member of the family.”

Heather quickly called the store hoping that someone might have handed Floppy in. It was then the worker, Colleen, said she had seen a bunny that had been found shared in a community Facebook group.

“She tracked the person down and organised for Floppy to be dropped off back at the store,” Heather tells us. “She actually said she has a reputation for hunting down things.”

At least little Archer was none-the-wiser during the whole debacle.

“I tried to put him down for a rest when we got home and he kept asking for Floppy, that’s when I realised I didn’t know where he was,” Heather says.

“He luckily went to sleep and when he woke up I had spoken to Woolies and knew we were getting him back.”

The family headed back to the store where Archer and Floppy were reunited, and Archer gave a box of chocolates to Colleen as as a thank you.

“It restores your faith in the community and I guess does show the benefits of Facebook,” Heather says.

The mum took to the social media site herself to thank Colleen for her work tracking down the missing bunny, writing in ‘10 minutes she saved the day’.

Woolworths then responded to the post and said they would pass on Heather’s feedback to the store as well.

“It looks like Colleen has gone above and beyond! We’ve passed this feedback through to store management so Colleen can receive the recognition she deserves,” Woolworths commented.

As for the bunny, Heather says Floppy won’t be going on anymore adventures any time soon.

“Floppy now stays in the house or the car. No more outings,” she says.
