Hard Chat‘s Tom Gleeson is known for bringing, well, the hard chat – and poor Grant Denyer has copped it.
In Wednesday’s episode of the hit segment, which airs during The Weekly with Charlie Pickering on the ABC, Tom made it clear he is having precisely none of Grant’s Gold Logie nomination.
“You were nominated for a Gold Logie for Family Feud which has been axed,” Tom said. “Are the Logies broken?”
“If I had known it was this easy to be nominated I would have had all my shows axed a long time ago,” Grant responded.
Tom then told the 2DAYFM breakfast co–host that he struggled with the process since he was “a man of science”.
“The Gold Logie is supposed to be for the most popular person on TV,” he said. “Your show was axed due to low ratings from the third highest-rating network. That just doesn’t make sense.”
While he makes a very valid point, Grant took the punches pretty well.
“You’re looking at it the wrong way. It’s Australia’s most loved game show, that’s what you say when you’re not the highest rating game show”. HA!
But the best joke of all?
“Was it hard to do a survey of 100 people when even 100 people weren’t watching?” Oh Tom, you card!
During the interview, Grant also revealed he thought A Current Affair’s Tracy Grimshaw would take the coveted Gold Logie home.
But Tom took this opportunity to have one last dig.
“You’re the perfect underdog,” Tom concluded. “You could literally walk under a dog!”
The 2018 TV Week Logie Awards will air on Sunday July 1 on Channel 9.
