Is there such a thing as being too sexy for your job? The answer is yes, according to Turkish Airlines.

Flight attendant Zuhal Sengul was reportedly fired after her employer discovered racy photos of her taken for an Italian magazine, according to the Daily Mail.

Sengul, who also works as a model, posted a number of pictures from photo shoots on her Facebook page.

The modelling pictures and a video in which she wears a bikini also reveal her tattoos, which are forbidden by the airline.

An airline spokesman told the Mail that there were “certain standards and qualities” expected from employees and modelling was not one of them.

Turkish Airlines faced criticism last year after trying to stop female crew members from wearing bright-coloured lipsticks in pink, red or claret, high buns, wigs, or having tattoos.

The lipstick rules were retracted after the media backlash.

According to news.com.au, Atilay Aycin, the president of the airline’s Hava-Is labour union, said at the time that the guidelines were due to the airline management’s desire to “shape the company o fit its own political and ideological stance”.

“No one can deny that Turkey has become a more conservative, religious country.”
