Baggage handlers caught on camera throwing passengers' luggage around

While waiting in the terminal for his flight to France from Gatwick in London, one passenger noticed something strange about the way baggage handlers were unloading the luggage from an EasyJet plane.

As Alan Hodge watched, three men carelessly threw people’s luggage onto a truck on the tarmac, prompting him to film the incident.

According to the Daily Mail, Hodge claims he saw one of the men “kicking” bags and tossing a pram from one end of the trolley to the other.

After the YouTube clip went viral, an EasyJet spokesperson told the publication that the airline is “appalled to see this footage,” and wants to assure its passengers that “this is absolutely not the standard of baggage handling we expect from our suppliers and we will investigate this incident thoroughly.”

The 37-year-old bus driver who caught the men mishandling the bags captioned the video: “Ever wondered why your cases get damaged at #gatwickairport, maybe this will explain why.”

Hodge told the Daily Mail his family was there to witness the incident take place. “We were in shock, we were thinking that it could be our cases. They were throwing them into the air and kicking them,” he said, “I couldn't believe what I was seeing.”

Throughout the video, the men can be seen scanning the area to make sure no one is watching them. “They knew that they shouldn't be doing it,” Hodge says, who caught them in the act.

“'Oh, did you get that one,” someone asks Mr Hodge in the video as as he films one of the workers throwing a case.

“I know they got to do it quickly, but...that's how expensive cases get damaged,” he said.

One YouTube commenter defended the employees, saying they didn't kick the bags but were “merely straightening it up.”
