Ever wondered where old airline blankets end up?

They’re a godsend when you’re on a long haul flight and doing everything you can to try get some shut-eye.

But there’s only so many wash cycles those airline blankets can survive, so what happens when their leg-warming days in the sky are over?

For years, Qantas has donated them to needy charities, and last month, the Aussie airline added the RSPCA to the list of organisations on the receiving end of the cosy cover-ups.

“We have donated blankets and duvets to people in need around the country for many years and we are really proud to extend our donation program to help animals,” Qantas head of customer products and services Phil Capps said.

“It’s great they get a second opportunity for use by our four legged friends.”

The donations have been described as “life savers” that get distributed to animal shelters and veterinary hospitals in need.

So now you know… and you’ll never steal a blanket again.
