China will open the world’s highest bridge this year
Move over Golden Gate Bridge, China is determined to have the most impressive bridge in the world.
The country’s newest construction is called the Beipanjiang Bridge. It sits at 1, 800 feet above the Beipan River - the equivalent to a 200-storey building - and was completed on Saturday.
The completion was announced in a statement from the Guizhou provincial transport department.
In addition to being the world’s highest bridge it is pretty long too; spanning 719 metres between two mountains.
This structure only just beats China's previous record holder, which stood at 1, 627 feet above the ground over the Si Du River.

The Beipanjiang Bridge is expected to open later in the year. It’s mainly for transport as opposed to foot traffic.
The bridge will boast the 10th tallest bridge tower in the world.
