EXCLUSIVE: Megan Gale reveals her ultimate travel destination

Be sat down for an exclusive chat with Megan Gale on the set of her new project with American Express to talk about her ultimate travel splurges and where she visits the most.

“I’ve been very fortunate to be able to travel a lot for my job,” Megan tells Be. “But I think for me, what I love to do the most is jumping in the car and going somewhere local – exploring your own backyard.

“I did that recently with my partner and my son, and it’s just so great. You get to explore these places that you don’t know so well that are just there.

“It’s great to jump on a plane, but it’s also great to do a bit of a road trip from time to time.”

As for Megan’s ultimate destination? Well, from the looks of her Instagram account, something tells us that would be an island adventure…and we were spot on.

“I am quite partial to an island destination,” she says. “Who isn’t? A few places come to mind but I think Tahiti would be beautiful.

“The last holiday I took with my boys we went to Fiji and it was really beautiful as well.”

But there’s one destination that holds more sentimental value for the 41-year-old model, because it’s where her career really took off…

“I’ve spent a lot of time in Italy for my job, so I’d love to take my boys there,” she says. “They’ve never been so I think that would be fantastic.”

She adds: “It’s a place very dear to my heart, and it’s also very far so that would be an indulgent trip, for sure.”

Megan, who was speaking to Be about how to get the most out of American Express rewards and points, adds that it's not just travel she splurges on.

“Since I became a mum,” she explains. “I’ve really reassessed what I spend my money on.

“It’s probably a little to do with getting older, but I think when you become a parent – and my partner’s the same too – your child is everything, so you really do think about each purchase.

“But I think for me, there’s just so many day to day expenses – your groceries and petrol – especially when you’ve got a kid…As anyone would know, you spend a lot on your kid."

But that doesn't mean Megan rules out big spends entirely. The model-turned-actress tells Be she uses her points to fly back home to Perth to see her parents.

“It’s a long way away and the trips can stack up financially," she says. So it’s great to have an opportunity to use those points that I accumulate and take my son back home to see my mum and my brothers and their kids.

“We did it recently – about six weeks ago,” she adds.
