Bandung, Indonesia
Set amongst picture-perfect tea plantations, the West Javan capital, an hour and 45 minutes from Singapore, is also known as "The Paris of Java" thanks to this former Dutch colony's delightful colonial and art deco architecture. Surrounded by volcanic terrain, its high altitude means travellers from Singapore can take a break from the heat. Oh, and fair warning to shopaholics: if you didn't get enough shopping done in Singapore, there are lots of factory outlets here. Spoil yourself by booking in at a five-star luxury hotel such as the InterContinental Bandung Dago Pakar, and set up by the infinity pool.

Hua Hin, Thailand
This one's a little more complicated to get to, but trust us: it's worth it. You'll spend two hours and 25 minutes on a flight to Bangkok, followed by another short 40-minute flight from Bangkok. Once you arrive, Hua Hin's pristine white beaches and crystal-clear waters make it pretty obvious why the Thai Royal Family is partial to this beach destination.

Krabi,Thailand
They say everything's better under the sea, and we're inclined to agree. If diving and snorkelling are your thing, Krabi, just an hour and 50 minutes' flight from Singapore, is the place for you. With its coral-fringed islands and majestic limestone formations, it's truly heaven on Earth. Perfect for families, there are all kinds of activities for everyone – from jungle trekking to island hopping. Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach offers "kids stay and eat free" deals.
