Horrified Airbnb guests discover hidden cameras

A couple who rented a home through Airbnb say they were horrified when they spotted a number of hidden cameras recording their every move.

Zhang Zhen and his partner allegedly uncovered two hidden cameras in their holiday rental in Kaohsiung City, in south-western Taiwan, and immediately called the police, who have since launched an investigation.

Airbnb have officially apologised to the couple - who are from Hangzhou city in China's eastern Zhejiang Province - for the incident.

Mr Zhen said he and his partner were in the bathroom when he spotted a spy camera disguised as a fire detector, which had a flashing light.

He then claims he spotted another, which had reportedly been set up in the bedroom.

The eagle-eyed tourist says he found the cameras on the first night and immediately called the police.

Officers seized the footage and say there were images of the couple watching TV in bed as well as Mr Zhen taking a bath.

Airbnb has apologised, saying publicly that the owner of the property in question - named as Tony Yen - has been "removed from their community" and promised the horrified pair a full refund.

Homeowner Yen reportedly told police he had no idea there were cameras in his home and believes the previous owners installed them.

The police investigation is ongoing.
