Why plane seats don’t always line up with the windows

Ah the joys of a window seat – watching take off and landing and getting to enjoy beautiful scenery from above.

Sometimes though the window seat isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, especially if you miss out on a window all together.

So if you’ve ever wondered why plane seats aren’t always in line with the windows, there is an answer, although you may not like it.

It has absolutely nothing to do with safety, and every to do with maximising bums on seats.

At the end of the day airlines need to make money and so they have complete control in the layout of their cabins down to how many rows of seats, and how they are positioned.

According to YouTube channel Today I Found Out it's not done with any sort of aesthetic effect in mind.

Sadly because of this it’s a common occurrence to end up without a window at all in the window seat.

Just look up ‘worst window seat ever’ and bang….
