We all like to mock annoying tourists - but are you guilty of any of these crimes yourself?
Treating locals like your personal photographer
In cities that are tourist hotspots, locals can quickly get sick of being stopped and asked to take your photo. Try to target other tourists so you can return the favour.
Whinging about prices
Get over it - you're on holiday! And if you could afford the airfare, you can probably spare $7 for a coffee...
Cringeworthy travelling attire
We get that you want to be comfortable on holiday, but zipping off those pants/shorts in public is never a good look, and for goodness sakes, don't wear a bum bag! Not only do they look awful, but they'll make you a target for thieves.
Expecting everyone to speak English
Just because you've bothered to visit a country, doesn't mean everyone there should have polished up their English skills in anticipation of your arrival. Do yourself a favour and learn some of the local lingo before you go - if nothing else, it will earn you some brownie points.
Eating food from home
You can eat boring old burgers or your Mum's casserole whenever you want, so there's no need to go in search of it when you're overseas. Embrace the different flavours and cooking techniques, and you may find a new favourite that you can recreate at home.
Saying you've 'been there, done that'
This is one of the most irritating things of all - no matter how many times you've been to Paris, you can never say you've 'done' Paris. It's just not cool.
Disturbing the peace
Watching the sunrise at Cambodia's Angkor Wat is one of the most serene experiences a person can enjoy - but it's quickly ruined when a loudmouth tourist yells to his mate "Check out the hot bird at 2 o'clock!"
Failing to do the research
With the internet at your fingertips and hundreds of travel guides at the library, there's no excuse for blatant ignorance - like visiting Prague and referring to Czechoslovakia instead of the Czech Republic.
Saying 'I'm a traveller, not a tourist'
If these words have ever come out of your mouth, then you're most definitely an annoying tourist.
Moaning about the weather
Sure, it's a shame if your entire holiday is marred by bad weather, but what can anyone do about it? Just buy an umbrella, zip up your raincoat and get out there.
