The Aussie hotel that'll pamper your pug
If there’s one thing Australia lacks when it comes to luxe holiday options, it’s the pet-friendly vibe.
For some reason puppers aren’t usually allowed to join their humans for rooftop bar cocktails or spa treatments by the pool.
Outrageous, I know.
But there’s a five-star waterfront Sydney hotel bucking that trend. Pier One Sydney Harbour lets you holiday with your dog and it’s glorious.

Perfectly perched on a wharf under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the heritage-listed property soaks up the glimmering Walsh Bay water-side from every possible angle.
As soon as my pug Winston and I waddled through the large doors, we were taking in the rustic lobby. Think exposed wooden beams, big smiles and champagne!
Pier One also offers valet parking for a flat rate of $50 per night. If you’re only staying one evening, it’s cheaper to park on the street. That’s if you can be bothered topping up the parking meter at 8am the next day.
Dogs are allowed everywhere in Pier One, so after check-in we made our way through to the bar. Staring at the high ceilings and stylish ironwork, we can tell this century-old building was once a working cargo wharf and passenger transit point. The bar area spills out to the sunny decking, where you and your pup can chill with a drink while you watch the boats.
Dogs are welcome to stay in the Waterside Deluxe and King room types – all on the ground level with direct access to the wharf.
Of course my little pug was impressed with the freshly steamed carpet, soothing white décor, glittering water views and luxe Dogue spa pack. Appelles Apothecary & Bar toiletries will have to do for the humans.
Downstairs is the swanky Gantry Restaurant and Bar – the Beckham’s private chef Chris Irving launched the eatery in 2015 and dogs are allowed there too.
Pier One Sydney Harbour is famous for its 18 suites – the real showstoppers are the Harbour View Balcony Suite options.
The bathroom is dramatic to say the least. The walk-in shower has 12 heads, a super-sized egg bath with views of iconic Luna Park and the Harbour Bridge… an Instagrammer’s dream, Dah-ling.
The wrap-around veranda will show you one of the very best views in the city. New Year’s Eve here must be a hoot.
The fluffy bed has one of those remote control retractable TVs that is hidden in the end of the frame. Team that with room service breakie and the majestic views and you’re literally in heaven.
The suites are carefully decorated with chosen ornamental art and historical furnishings from Australian design houses but all 189 rooms have that five-star chic vibe.
Pier One is an iconic Sydney stay ... but more importantly if you chose to stay here you'll never have to holiday without your pup again!
