Humpback Whale Twirls in Alaskan Waters

An Ocean Alliance “SnotBot” drone used for collecting samples from whales captured this humpback whale twirling during a 2016 expedition in Frederick Sound, Alaska.

Scientists and researchers at Ocean Alliance use the “SnotBot” drone to collect “biological material” from the whales, such as DNA and hormones, via their blowhole waterspout ejections. Credit: YouTube/Ocean Alliance via Storyful
