Twitter is convinced Melania Trump was 'terrified' in Helsinki

President Trump is still facing an uphill battle following his shocking remarks about Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, but the initial outrage is starting to wear off. This has paved the way for a small but interesting detail from the summit to gain some attention.

Twitter users noticed an odd look on first lady Melania Trump’s face when she met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki. She smiled as she shook Putin’s hand, but the smile quickly disappeared.

There’s no way to know what was going through the first lady’s head at that moment, but her body language was vastly different from how it was the last time she met Putin.

At last year’s G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany, she seemed pleased to shake hands with the Russian leader — they were even seated next to each other during a dinner, where they made small talk about fishing.

The first lady was also poised and collected while greeting another world leader just days before her encounter with Putin.

Making a strikingly confident entrance, she smiled warmly while shaking hands with British Prime Minister Theresa May and her husband, Philip May.

In contrast, the first lady was clearly uncomfortable while meeting Putin in Helsinki — and the internet filled in the blanks on what her facial expressions meant.
