Uproar over job ad excluding ‘people with young children’
A job advert with an unusual requirement is causing offence because it specified that “people with young children need not apply”.
The role of an office worker at an unnamed Dublin oil company appeared on recruitment website, Indeed, and naturally it ruffled feathers.
In it, the advertisers stated they were looking for a “person for answering phone and computer skills” with “a good knowledge of Dublin.”
But it was the request stating, “People with young children need not apply” that caused a stir.
After being shared on Twitter, it was branded as “discriminatory” to parents and has since gone viral.
This is terrible! And I’m 2018 for gods sake, shows that this company have a long way to go…..

Hugely depressing to think this is how far we have come like something out of the 1970's…

Total breach of employment equality legislation 😠

Excuse us while we bang our heads against a brick wall.
The advert has since been taken down from the job search platform, but Indeed have yet to comment.
This is unacceptable in 2018.
