Victoria Police Raid Homes in Counter-Terror Investigation

Raids were conducted at a number of Melbourne residences on Friday, June 9, in connection with a hostage situation on June 5 believed to be terror-related.

Victoria Police deputy commissioner Shane Patton confirmed the raids had taken place but said the people interviewed at those properties were “not persons of national security interest.”

“We believe these people may be involved in the provision of firearms,” he said in a press conference at 9 am, adding the operation was the result of the an investigation by the Joint Counter Terrorism team.

According to the Herald Sun one man was arrested as a result of the raids and taken into custody at Gladstone Park.
