Does this video prove Erin and Eden knew each other before Love Island?
They’ve been tipped as the power couple of Australia’s Love Island, with the strongest relationship in the villa since day one.
And being the hopeless romantics we are, we decided to count down till this week’s finale by rewatching the first time Eden and Erin met.
Some closer examination of the footage made us wonder, is Eden and Erin’s fairytale romance a little too good to be true? Did these two lovebirds actually know each other before filming? Are they the ultimate game-players?
Hear us out as we outline our theory below.
Firstly, we have to give it to Erin for not settling for anything less than what her boyfriend wish list dictated.
The 23-year-old nurse bravely didn’t step forward for any of the men who entered the villa until the final male contestant, Eden, walked in.
How was Erin so sure the last guy to arrive would be her perfect match?
Secondly, Eden didn’t look properly at any other woman when he arrived on the scene.
He had his eyes on Erin, and what’s more, he knew her name.
That’s a little peculiar given the other male contestants had no idea who the women were unless Sophie had introduced them.
And in this case, Sophie had not mentioned a single woman’s name.
“Oh hello,” Eden immediately said to Erin when he arrived.
After asking Eden what he looks for in a girl, Sophie asked the 25-year-old prison officer to make a decision.
“The choice is completely up to you,” she said. “But before you do, girls if you fancy Eden or if you prefer Eden to the guy you’re coupled up with, please step forward.”
Of course, Erin stepped forward before Sophie had even finished her sentence.
“What are you thinking?” Sophie asked Eden.
“I do like Erin,” he then said, pointing straight at her.
Once again we ask, how did he know her name?
“The first thing I saw was Erin. She was in the middle, I saw that beautiful red bikini, a nice tattoo and look at that smile and red lipstick. Look at that confidence, look at her. She’s glowing,” said Eden.
When Sophie then asked Erin what she liked about Eden, her response was simply, “F***ing everything”.
Wow, that’s a big call after knowing someone for 30 seconds.
So did they know each other before the show and did they perhaps decide to couple up in a bid to secure the $50,000 cash prize?
A Channel Nine spokesperson told Be on Tuesday that the contestants didn’t know each other before filming.
“The first they all knew of each other was the moment they met on camera,” the spokesperson said.
Eden and Erin have been smitten since day one, but not all fans have been convinced their love is real.
Many Twitter users recently pointed out that Eden’s Love Actually-style way of asking Erin to be his girlfriend was quite similar to what happened on Love Island UK last year with the show’s winners Kem and Amber.
Rumours have also been swirling that Eden has a girlfriend on the outside and only came in to win the cash.
His mother and sister have since come out and said that’s not true at all.
