Last week Kim Kardashian was on Waleed Aly’s hit list, this week it’s Robert De Niro.
The presenter took aim at the actor on The Project on Tuesday night for his F-bomb attack on President Donald Trump at this year’s Tony Awards.
“I’m gonna say one thing: “F*** Trump!” De Niro said as he took to the stage. “It’s no longer down with Trump, it’s F*** Trump!”
Whilst many praised the Silver Linings Playbook star for his comments, they did not sit well with Waleed.
“What is going on here?” the 39-year-old said. “De Niro gets up, says, ‘eff Trump’, and gets a standing ovation?”
Waleed explained De Niro’s comments, as well as many other celebs’ comments about Trump, did not gain anything, and instead actually played into the hands of the current president.
“Celebrities saying stuff like that about Trump is exactly what Trump talks about to his base and they go, ‘Yeah, I’m sick of these Hollywood elites being like that’ – do they not put that together?” he asked.
