Is this the ultimate ice bucket challenge?

Ice queen fashion editor Anna Wintour has accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and executed it with aplomb (of course).

The Vogue editor-in-chief, who was nominated by her daughter Bee Shaffer, took the opportunity to nominate in turn tennis legend Roger Federer and English actor Dominic West before submitting her signature power-bob to a drenching.

The viral social media stunt is all for a good cause: raising awareness and importantly funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neurone disease. American participants are being asked to donate to alsa.org.

While various incarnations of the ice bucket challenge have cropped up around the world, the rules are popularly accepted to give the nominee 24 hours to respond to the challenge.

Once nominated, you, or Anna Wintour, have the choice of donating money to charity, or pouring a bucket of iced water over your head.

Most celebrities who have doused themselves with freezing water have also given a donation to the ALS charity - and there's been no shortage of stars keen to look a little silly for a good cause.

Famous faces who have taken on the ice bucket challenge include everyone from Kate Upton to Ben Affleck.

As well as Anna Wintour, the fashion industry has been admirably represented by models (Cara Delevingne and Gisele Bundchen) and photographers (Mario Testino).

The Beckham family, UK fashion royalty, has also got involved with David and Brooklyn both taking on the challenge. We can't wait to see what Victoria will do with her nomination.

Meanwhile others, like US President Barack Obama, elected to forgo the drenching in favour of a simple donation.

According to a report at Time.com, the Ice Bucket Challenge raised $9.3 million in a single day on Tuesday, August 19, bring the total donated to a staggering $34 million.
