WATCH: Hillary Clinton practiced avoiding Trump’s hugs

We’ve seen his wife Melania seemingly flinch away from Donald Trump’s touch, and it seems she’s not the only one who struggled with the POTUS’ embrace.

Hilarious footage has emerged of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton practicing wriggling out of an anticipated Trump hug during debate prep last year.

Campaign strategist Philippe Reines posted the clip on Twitter, which saw Hillary preparing for absolutely everything – including Trump getting a little too close – as they practiced for the first televised debate last September.

The clip shows Hillary and a Trump stand-in being introduced, before they approach from opposite sides of the stage.

Faux-Trump is not to be deterred though, chasing Hillary across the stage and hugging her from behind as the whole room bursts into laughter.

Trump is notorious for his greetings, with one report claiming his handshakes are “like the man himself: aggressive, confusing, and secretly inadequate”.

It’s something Hillary’s team were keen to make sure didn’t set the tone of the debate.

“We thought it was very likely he'd try to use his height and size to present an image that you wouldn't see between, say, President Obama and Governor Romney,” Philippe told the Washington Post.

"Any debate team worth its salt ... know that very first moment, when the two candidates are physically closer to each other than they will be at any other time over the following 90 minutes, when they first touch gloves, is an important one.”

For her part, Hillary has embraced the clip.
