Wedding crasher 'steals gifts' from couple's reception

A couple’s wedding day was thrown into disarray after they claim a wedding crasher snuck into their reception venue and made away with some of their gifts.

Rusty and Auttumn Waddell, who hail from Virginia in the USA, married on May 6 in an intimate ceremony at the Hilton Garden Inn in Virginia Beach.

However, while they were dancing the night away, Auttumn’s mother noticed something strange happening at the gifting table.

A woman, who they now believe was a wedding crasher, seemed to have made her way into the venue and was casting an eye over all the presents on the table.

Auttumn’s quick-thinking mum snapped a photo of the woman, who was dressed in a hoodie and a pair of casual pants.

The couple now claim that the woman allegedly got away with a wad of envelopes, which had been given to the newlyweds by their guests.

“It’s pretty wild on a person-to-person level,” said Rusty Waddell, the groom, told WTKR

“I don’t understand how you could do that, especially at a wedding.”

The police were notified about the incident but the newlyweds obviously had no idea what was in the cards, as they hadn’t opened them yet.

Instead of spending the days after their wedding opening their cards and gifts, they instead had to contact each guest and ask them what they had brought with them as a present on the day.

“I think embarrassing is the word I would use,” Rusty said.

He also said that the wedding crasher has put a mark on their otherwise perfect day.
