Newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have the world at their feet when it comes to honeymoon destinations. But for most of us, it would be a lifetime opportunity to holiday like a royal. Where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend their first overseas break as husband and wife remains shrouded in secrecy, but here are ten destinations that are firm favourites with the royals.
1. Balmoral, Scotland
The Queen celebrated her 90th birthday here this year with a special gala concert featuring 900 horses depicting the story of her life. Balmoral Castle has been the royal family's Scottish home since 1852, when Prince Albert bought the grounds and original castle for Queen Victoria. Balmoral is located in the stunning Highlands, 11km east of Baremar, the home of the Braemar Gathering, the most famous and best highland games in the world.
2. St Barts
St Barts is a favourite with the rich and famous and with its beautiful beaches, designer boutiques and luxury restaurants. The Duchess of Cambridge's family and Princess Beatrice have holidayed here.
3. St Tropez, French Riviera
St Tropez attracts the likes of the Swedish and Danish Royal Families who come for the designer shops, spectacular views, expensive restaurants and luxury yacht trips.
4. Portofino, Italy
Loved by Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco, Portofino on the Italian Riviera, is filled with pastel coloured houses, high-end boutiques and seafood restaurants dotted around the main square. The Piazzetta overlooks the super-yacht lined harbour and you can take a walk to the nearby Castello Brown to experience panoramic views of the Ligurian Sea.
5. Verbier, Switzerland
This exclusive ski resort is a playground for the rich and famous, with its luxurious chalets and wine caves - attracting celebrities such as The Beckhams, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jude Law. The Duchess of York and Prince Andrew brought a chalet here in 2017 and regulars include Princess Mary and Prince Frederick of Denmark.
Known for its casinos, exquisite restaurants, yacht-lined harbour and prestigious Grand Prix motor race every year, Monaco attracts those looking for luxury. It is also home to the Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco and their young twins.
7. Marstrand, Sweden
The Swedish Royals often opt for a staycation here at the beautiful seaside town of Marstrand on the West Sweden coast and it's easy to see why. This picturesque and beautiful island town is known as the sailing metropolis of the west coast - it has a large guest harbour, excellent shops and exciting nightlife and entertainment for the entire family.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who married in April 2011, took their honeymoon in the secluded Seychelles. It really is the ultimate paradise with its serene beaches across 115 islands, underwater wonders (perfect for scuba divers) and exotic cuisine, which blends African, English, French and Indian flavours.
The Maldives, one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, is another favourite of Prince William and Kate. The palm-tree lined islands are the perfect romantic getaway with crystal clear waters and broad choice of luxury hotels and spas.
10. Palma de Mallorca - Spain
The Spanish Royal Family favour Palma de Mallorca as a holiday destination as it's also the location of their royal residence, Marivent Palace, which they visit annually. Featuring an urban beach, the city of Mallorca overlooks inviting turquoise waters and offers gorgeous mountain views, making it a perfect choice if you are after a city break that offers both culture and sunshine.
