Why Wiggles star with endometriosis 'freaked out' before surgery

It was back in April when Emma Watkins was forced to pull out of The Wiggles’ tour due to her battle with endometriosis.

Now the 28-year-old children’s entertainer has opened up about how serious her condition was, especially in the lead up to undergoing surgery.

“What was freaking me out leading up to the surgery was I was starting to feel not great doing lots of shows,” she told The Herald Sun’s Weekend.

“I lost so much blood I had an infusion, and that’s when it started to hit me,” she continued.

“I had had really bad periods since school pretty much, but when the doctors are actually in there, they can see the severity.”

Endometriosis is a condition that affects the lining of the uterus, causing it to grow outside the womb and trigger painful complications as well as infertility.

In April Emma informed her fans she needed to have the operation after suffering with “a lot of pain” for the last few years because of her condition.

“I have been in a lot of pain for the past couple of years,” she told The Daily Telegraph at the time, admitting the decision to have treatment had been “difficult”.

After recovering from surgery, Emma, who is married to fellow Wiggle Lachy Gillespie, says she’s been able to get back to working on The Wiggles set and doing what she loves most.
