Wippa's Shrek audition doesn't quite go to plan
Fitzy and Wippa are definitely one of Australia’s most beloved radio duos.
But it appears one half of the dynamic duo has their sights sets on performing on the stage.
He’s got his eye on the role of Shrek in Shrek: The Musical and lucky for us it was all caught on camera for Nova FM’s Fitzy & Wippa Show.
Dressed up as Shrek, Wippa put his best ogre foot forward auditioning for the pivotal role.
We must say we’re very impressed at the efforts Wippa went to with his costume, it really adds to the feeling of the character.
However, it’s safe to say his audition probably didn’t quite go to plan.
While the 38-year-old attempted a Scottish accent, unfortunately to the ear it didn’t really sound like the Shrek we know and love.
It was more of a case of just shouting in a slightly deeper voice than Wippa normally has.
Later on in the audition, the radio host was asked to sing one of the iconic songs from the hit movie – ‘I’m A Believer’ by Smash Mouth.
And again, attempting to sing in a Scottish accent, it was more of just a series of grunts than singing the song.
But nonetheless, we applaud Wippa’s attempt.
When asked about how he thought he did in the audition, Wippa gave himself a 7 out of 10. Good on you Wippa, mate.
