This woman had a double mastectomy when she was 15

A woman has revealed she underwent a double mastectomy when she was 15, but it went horribly wrong.

And, to make matters worse, the surgery may have not been totally necessary, Alysia admitted on a recent episode of Botched.

She explains in the clip above, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when Alysia was just 15-years-old and a “doctor said that her kids should get tested.”

“I went and had a BRCA gene test done and I was told that I tested positive and he suggested that I have a double mastectomy,” Alysia explained to the doctors on Botched.

After three intensive surgeries Alysia was left with crooked breasts and extra skin, which resulted in her requesting her medical records in order to consult with a different doctor.

When she received them, the medical records said there was “no mutation”, which means Alysia may have had an unnecessary double mastectomy.

However, looking over her medical records more closely, Dr. Terry Dubrow clarified to Alysia she does, in fact, have the BRCA gene.

“So you do have the BRCA gene. You did need a double mastectomy,” he said. “The bad news is that you had to have these procedures, but the good news is, is that you had to have these procedures.

“You had the appropriate surgery done, so you can rest easy knowing that.”
