Our lazy girl dreams of being able to grab a multipack of chips, a bottle of milk and everything we need to make quesadillas for dinner, without ever leaving the car, are actually already a reality.
Despite Woolworths opening their first drive-thru supermarket in Sydney’s Warringah Mall in 2012, and launching many others since, we’re only now finding out about this essential information after the retail chain cut the ribbon at their store in Racecourse Village, Ascot, in Queensland.
Instead of traipsing through the aisles of a supermarket, customers are able to choose what products they want on an app.
They’ll then park in a designated space for online orders and a Woolies employee will bring the goods straight to the car.
Woolworths Queensland state manager, Matthew Franich, told the Courier Mail that he expects the service to be embraced by time-poor parents, who will be able to avoid the stress of taking their kids in and out of the car.
“This is a next generation store, it’s the result of us listening to our customers and working with their insights and understanding how their shopping expectations have changed whether it be the product or whether it be how they actually shop with us between pick up, online or coming into the store,” Matthew said.
People online, who like us obviously had no idea that Woolies offers drive thru services in select locations, have been begging the company to consider a drive-through for years now.
And now, with human interaction at the supermarket taken out of the scenario, we have no excuse to ditch the healthy eating in favour of UberEats.
@WOOLWORTHS_SA why can't you have a drive through? You know how many times I've wanted a hot beverage in the morning, only to be put off by the effort of going into a mall, finding parking etc. 🙄

@WOOLWORTHS_SA have you considered a drive through for basic products we're too lazy to get out the car to buy? E.g. Bread & milk 🤷🏽♀️
