'Yanny' or 'Laurel': the audio clip that’s tearing the internet apart
Just like that another social post has divided the internet, but this time in audio form.
A new recording of a robotic-sounding voice is tearing offices, homes and marriages apart. It’s the black dress/blue dress all over again, but in audio form.
While most (sensible, right-minded) listeners hear the voice say ‘Laurel’, a significant portion of listeners are hearing ‘Yanny’. So, which do you hear?

While we think it 100% says ‘Laurel’ loud and clear, plenty of Twitter users think otherwise.
I was hearing only yanny and then I called the kids over and suddenly I could only hear laurel. I thought the video had changed but the kids were hearing yanny. I think I might have broken my brain. #yannyvslaurel

If you want to know what is causing this incredible rift (and some actually hear both at the same time), some internet wizards have solved the mystery.
I though the #yannyvslaurel thing was going to be interesting but it's entirely dependent on the bass levels of your output device.
With reduced bass (speakers, many laptops, tinny headphones) it's #Yanny, with normal bass (well adjusted speakers, good headphones) it's #Laurel
