It's fair to say things have been strained between former bandmates Zayn Malik and Harry Styles recently.
With the pair having public disagreements about their varying experiences in One Direction, it seemed as though a line had been drawn under their friendship.
But now Zayn, 24, has admitted the two were "never really" mates to begin with.
In an interview with US Weekly, the Pillowtalk singer discusses the fact that they haven't kept in touch since he walked away from 1D in 2015.
"To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band," he said. "So I didn't really expect that much of a relationship with him when I left. And I haven't had one to be honest."
The comments are sure to have devastated loyal 1D fans, who believed the boys were best mates.
After leaving One Direction, Zayn took a string of swipes at the band, who were formed by music mogul Simon Cowel from five X-Factor rejects.
Harry, 23, has always fiercely defended their beginnings, saying he “loved” his time in One Direction and that it helped shape him as a musician.
Since March 2016, Harry, Niall, Liam and Loius have been on an "extended hiatus" to concentrate on solo projects.
But Zayn said he's not against reuniting with his old pals in the future.
"Never say never," he told the magazine. "If I wanted to come back in 10, 15 years time, then yeah, why not? I don't know... It just depends on how I'm feeling at that time."
Hmm... we love you Zayn but we're not sure the boys will have you back if you keep stirring the pot.
