Can you name all these royals?
All available members of the royal family stepped out in London this weekend to celebrate the Queen’s birthday with the annual Trooping the Colour display.
But as they rolled up to Buckingham Palace and all gathered on the balcony to watch the impressive military showcase, how many did you actually recognise?
Charles and Camilla, William and Kate, and Harry and Meghan, were among the 46 faces gazing up at the fly over – here, we take a look at some of the others.
We’ll start with an easy one, scroll past the photos to see their names.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie
Harry’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Eugenie were looking smart in pink and green dresses respectively.
Beatrice, 29, has just returned from a quick and very low-key visit to Australia were she was seen visiting a hospital in Sydney and hosting a morning tea. Meanwhile Eugenie, 28, has been busy preparing for her upcoming wedding which will take place in October at the same chapel Harry and Meghan chose.
The princesses are the Queen’s granddaughters, and their parents are Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson.
Lady Louise Windsor and Sophie, Countess of Wessex
Beatrice and Eugenie arrived at the palace alongside their aunt Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, and their cousin, Lady Louise Windsor.
Sophie, 53, married the Queen’s youngest child Prince Edward, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in 1999. Edward was the last of the Queen’s children to wed, and the only one whose first marriage hasn’t ended in divorce.
A public relations specialist in her former life, Sophie tried to juggle both her career and her royal duties after tying the knot, but after a business scandal erupted a couple of years later, she was forced to abandon it.
She and Edward were given the titles of ‘earl and countess’, rather than the higher ranked ‘duke and duchess’, so their children have ‘lord and lady’ titles, rather than ‘prince and princess’ like their cousins, William, Harry, Beatrice and Eugenie.
Lady Louise, who was a bridesmaid at Kate and Wills’ wedding, is now 14, and her brother James, Viscount Severn, is ten.
Peter and Autumn Phillips, and Isla and Savannah Phillips
The royal children were definitely the ones to steal the show, and one in particular drew attention when she tried to shush Prince George and put her hand over his mouth.
That was Savannah Philips and she was with her younger sister Isla, who was dressed in blue.
The girls are the children of Peter and Autumn Phillips, with Peter being the son of Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips.
Unlike his cousins William and Harry, Peter is not a prince because royal titles are only carried down the male line, and his father is not a prince. The Queen offered to give Peter and his sister Zara Phillips the ‘prince and princess’ titles anyway, but Princess Anne famously refused.
Prince Andrew and Princess Anne
Both Peter and his wife Autumn joined their daughters on the balcony, as did 67-year-old Anne, the Princess Royal, who was dressed in full military gear.
Anne’s younger brother Andrew, 58, was also dressed in uniform, and stood beside his mother the Queen.
Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, Lady Gabriella Windsor and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent
The Queen’s first cousin Prince Michael of Kent, 75, was also in attendance with his family; his wife Princess Michael – whose birth name is Marie – daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor, son Lord Frederick Windsor, and daughter-in-law Lady Frederik.
Women who marry into the royal family and aren’t a princess in their own right, traditionally take on their husband’s name and title as was the case for Princess Michael.
Technically, Meghan is actually ‘Princess Henry of Wales’, and Kate is ‘Princess William’, but they were bestowed Dukedoms on their marriage, and so adopted the duchess title instead. Princess Michael is not a duchess, so she goes by her husband’s title.
Lady Helen Windsor and Eloise and Estella Taylor
Prince Michael wasn’t the only cousin of the Queen’s present, his brother Edward, the Duke of Kent, his daughter Lady Helen Windsor, and her two daughters Eloise and Estella Taylor, also joined the royals on the balcony.
Eloise and Estella have been photographed standing beside Kate Middleton at many Trooping the Colours in years past, and they were right between her and Wills, and Peter and Autumn Phillips this year.
