Candice Warner wants to put Sonny Bill Williams scandal behind her
Candice Warner has apologised to former NRL star Sonny Bill Williams and his family, saying she wants nothing more than to move on from their 2007 ‘toilet tryst’ scandal.
The infamous incident was brought back to light in the wake of her husband David Warner’s ball-tampering scandal, which saw their history dredged up in the media.
As Candice, 33, left South Africa earlier this year alongside her disgraced cricket player hubby, she was taunted by fans for the sexual encounter that happened 11 years ago.
“I finally received a weak apology from Cricket South Africa [for the fan taunts]. I realised they’re the ones to feel ashamed, not me,’ she told Australian Women’s Weekly.
‘I’d like to extend that apology to Sonny Bill. He’s a husband and father, so imagine how his wife would feel and his kids,” she added.
The mum-of-two also revealed that she’d paid the “ultimate price” after she suffered a “heartbreaking” miscarriage in the aftermath of the incident, which involved David along with captain Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft embroiled in a ball-tampering scandal.
Back in 2007, the ironwoman was caught on camera in a men’s toilet with the then rugby league superstar Sonny Bill Williams.
Despite both moving on and marrying other people, their steamy liaison has gone on to haunt them both.
Sonny, who is now married to Alana Raffie and has two kids, hasn’t commented on the fact their decade-old fling resurfaced recently.
