Bindi Irwin gets emotional during dad Steve's star ceremony

Bindi Irwin struggled to keep it together during the unveiling of her late dad Steve Irwin’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

It’s been 11 years since the ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin’s death where he was fatally attacked by a stingray at the age of 44.

But now the wildlife expert has been honoured in the most iconic way, causing his family to break down with pride.

In true Irwin style, the family — including mum Terri and younger brother Robert — were accompanied by a four-metre python named Angela.

The family took to the podium to share an emotional tribute to Steve, and spoke about how the wildlife expert would have loved to be immortalised on the famous strip.

“I never in my wildest dreams imagined this would come true,” Bindi said to the crowd, as she brushed away tears.

“Dad changed the world by reaching out to people through their television screens to bring them on the adventure of a lifetime,” she said.

Terri also urged fans of the importance of keeping Steve’s legacy afloat.

“To have his name on a Hollywood star means the world as we carry on his important work,” Terri added.

“Steve always said that he hoped his message of conservation would live on forever.”

“It means the world to us that Steve’s memory will live on in so many ways,” she concluded.

The star was the 2,635th to be placed on the Walk of Fame.
